There are no unusual situations, but the tension remains: what's happening at the border with Belarus

There are no unusual situations at the border with Belarus, but tension remains due to the presence of Belarusian troops. Ukraine is strengthening its defense and preparing for potential threats.

Although there are currently no unusual situations at the border with Belarus, the tension persists. Ukraine is actively reinforcing its defense, and border guards are preparing for possible threats, as the neighboring country, which supports Russia, continues to station troops near Ukraine’s borders.

This was shared by the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko, during a briefing, as reported by the UNN correspondent.

“The tasks of the State Border Guard Service are diverse, and our border units are carrying them out even in challenging directions, including the frontline, on the border with Russia and Belarus. They also ensure the protection of the state border with European Union countries and with Moldova. Each of these directions differs significantly from the others,” Demchenko said.

Regarding the border with Belarus, as the spokesperson noted, no changes in the situation are currently observed.

As mentioned earlier, this direction is a priority and important because Belarus continues to support the terrorist state, Russia. It keeps its units near the border, although their number is insignificant both in terms of personnel and composition. However, according to Demchenko, these units are positioned towards our border, seemingly indicating that Belarus expects a threat from Ukraine.

“In its statements, including those by Lukashenko, Belarus shifts the responsibility to Ukraine, forgetting that it was Belarus that once opened the border for Russian troops, who invaded our territory,” the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service added.

He emphasized that there are no unusual situations in this section of the border at the moment. However, Ukraine continues to strengthen its defense capabilities both in engineering and fortification terms, preparing to counter any potential threat if the situation changes.

Demchenko also highlighted that Ukraine’s intelligence units, including those from the State Border Guard Service and the Ministry of Defense, are carefully monitoring the situation and analyzing possible threats.

Additionally, the spokesperson mentioned that there are currently no Russian units or forces in Belarus that could form a strike group for an invasion into Ukraine.
