Russians set fire to a collector near Chasiv Yar, with over a hundred casualties

Ukrainian troops carried out an airstrike on a concentration of Russian forces, resulting in the enemy possibly losing up to a hundred soldiers.

To avoid retrieving the bodies of their soldiers and to conceal the significant losses from the Defense Forces’ strike, the Russians set fire to a collector with the dead near Chasiv Yar. This was reported to “Ukrainian Pravda” on Thursday, January 23, by the spokesperson of the Joint Forces Operation “Luhansk,” Lieutenant Colonel Dmytro Zaporizhets.

From January 4 to 8, the Defense Forces recorded Russian activity around the pipes of the Seversky Donets Canal.

“The enemy used thick fog and limited visibility for covert movement through the pipes to the collector near Kalynivka, not far from Chasiv Yar. Over the course of four days, more than 100 occupiers were observed moving. According to available information, they set up in the collector for future assault operations towards Chasiv Yar,” Zaporizhets explained.

On January 9, Ukrainian forces carried out an airstrike on the Russian concentration. That day, according to the spokesperson of the Joint Forces Operation “Luhansk,” the enemy may have lost up to a hundred of their soldiers.

On January 21, the occupiers organized a fire in the collector, likely trying to conceal the destruction of such a large number of personnel and to avoid evacuation measures.

“Smoke and fire lasted about 5 hours,” Zaporizhets added.

It is also worth recalling that on January 8, the Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out a precision strike on the command post of the 8th Guards Army of Russia, located in the city of Khartsyzsk in Donetsk region.
