Russia – Ukraine war updates: daily briefings as of July 21, 2017

Russia – Ukraine war updates from the war zone in southeast Ukraine as of July 21, 2017 by ATO HQ operational data and Presidential Administration spokesman on ATO issues briefing: EMPR highlights.

(1) Russian hybrid forces increased number of attacks and opened fire 29 times upon Ukrainian troops positions in the war zone in eastern Ukraine over the last 24 hours, including 13 times on Luhansk direction, 13 on Donetsk direction and 3 times on Mariupol direction;

(2) Luhansk direction: Russian forces fulfilled a series of armed provocations in Zhovte, Tryokhizbenka, Novooleksandrivka and Novozvanivka with the use of grenade launchers and small arms; the hottest spot rerported in Krymske, where the enemy released 4 shelling, 3 of which were from forbidden mortar launchers;

(3) Donetsk direction: Russian hybrid foreces attacks reported all day long on this direction; the enemy shelled with mortars upon Nevelske; Russian occupiers used small arms during shellings at Luhanske, Novgorodske and Avdiivka; the enemy fulfilled 4 mortars shellings and released up to 50 mines upon Ukrainian troops positions in Avdiivka; Russian forces shelled with mortars at Butovka mine;

(4) Mariupol direction:  Russian forces intensive attack with the use of mortars of different calibers and 122-mm artillery as well as 4 tanks took place in Krasnogoryvka;

(5) Russian forces losses for the past day are as follows: 6 killed and 18 wounded;

(6) 5 Ukrainian servicemen were killed in action, 8 servicemen were wounded in action and 1 serviceman was captive by Russian proxies in the war zone in eastern Ukraine over the last 24 hours.
