Russia – Ukraine war updates from the war zone in southeast Ukraine as of  August 22, 2017 by ATO HQ operational data and Presidential Administration spokesman on ATO issues briefing: EMPR highlights.

(1) Russian hybrid forces launched 28 attacks against Ukrainian troops in the war zone in eastern Ukraine over the last 24 hours, including 7 times on Luhansk direction, 11 times on Donetsk direction and 10 times on Mariupol direction;
(2) Luhansk direction: Russian occupiers traditionally used mortar launchers and small arms during attacks in Popasna district; the enemy also violated ceasefire regime in Stanytsya Luhanska district and the village of Krymske;
(3) Donetsk direction: Russian forces continue shelling in Kamyanka, Avdiivka and Butovka mine sector; the enemy used hard weaponry in Svitlodarska line and Zaytseve;
(4) Mariupol direction: Russian troops fulfilled massive mortar shelling and released 20 mines upon Ukrainian positions in Maryinka; the enemy opened fire from forbidden 122-mm artillery in Hnutove, Vodyane and Talakivka and released more than 50 rounds upon Ukrainian troops positions during 4 hours;
(5) No lethal casualties reported among Ukrainian servicemen, but 4 servicemen was wounded in actions in the war zone in eastern Ukraine for the last 24 hours.
