Ukraine war updates on February 24, 2016 by ATO HQ operational data and Presidential Administration spokesman on ATO issues briefing: EMPR highlights

(1) Situation escalated across the front line in the war zone in Eastern Ukraine as Russian militants fired upon Ukrainian positions 84 times over the last 24 hour, including the use of heavy arms which are forbidden by the Minsk agreements;

(2) Luhansk direction: situation remains calm on this direction, but one Russian UAV was spotted over Stanytsya Luhanska;

(3) Donetsk direction: the enemy fired 69 times upon Ukrainian positions with mortars, grenade launchers, heavy machine guns and small arms; Russian armed forces fired with forbidden 120-mm and 82-mm mortar launchers against Ukrainian forces near the settlements of Avdyivka, Pisky, Opytne, Zaytseve, Mayorsk, Pervomaysk, Novgorodske and Butyvka mine; the enemy used antiaircraft installation fire against Ukrainian forces in Opytne;

(4) Mariupol direction: Russian forces violated ceasefire regime with the use of APC fire in Krasnogoryvka; the enemy fired upon Ukrainian positions in Maryinka, Talakyvka, Chermalyka and Vodyane; sin addition, small arms, 120-mm and 82-mm mortar launchers were used by the enemy on this direction;

(5) Ukrainian intelligence informed that war aid arrived from the Russian federation to the eastern regions of Ukraine, i.e. at least 60 servicemen and 30 tonnes of ammo passed Izvaryne border checkpoint; 3 tanks, 2 APCs, 3 trucks with weaponry, and 4 trucks with personnel entered Ukraine through Novoazovsk border checkpoint;

(6) No casualties reported among Ukrainian servicemen over the last day, 2 servicemen were wounded in action.
