The north of Sumy region under pressure: the enemy is pushing toward Sumy

As reported by News of Donbas, the situation in the north of Sumy region continues to deteriorate due to constant pressure from Russian forces and their numerical advantage in infantry. This is according to analysts from the DeepState project.

According to Ukrainian soldiers, after enemy clusters are destroyed, the Russians quickly deploy new forces. While attacks are being held back, the sheer number of enemy troops is creating significant strain on the front line.

According to preliminary information, the status of several settlements potentially already captured by Russian forces — Kindrativka, Vodolahy, and Oleksiivka — is being clarified. A concentration of Russian infantry has been spotted in Kindrativka. In Oleksiivka, enemy forces were halted on the northern outskirts but continue relentless assaults. Fighting there is especially intense. The weather is helping Ukrainian troops, who are actively using artillery and drones.

Meanwhile, Russian forces are attempting to bypass defenses through Yablunivka and Yunakivka, though progress is hampered by destroyed infrastructure.

The main direction of Russia’s offensive is the village of Khotin. Capturing it could allow the enemy to approach Sumy to within 20–25 km — a range reachable by FPV drones. The local terrain (elevated ground) favors the Russians, and Ukraine currently lacks effective countermeasures against Russian drones.

Ukrainian soldiers also report a shortage of personnel and emphasize that defense must be prioritized.

As a reminder, Russian troops have occupied the village of Kostyantynivka in Sumy region and have advanced near Oleksiivka.
