According to Novyny Donbasu, during the night of May 21, the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in coordination with other components of Ukraine’s Defense Forces, struck the Bolkhov Semiconductor Devices Plant in the Oryol region of Russia. This was reported by the press service of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This plant is one of Russia’s leading enterprises in the development and production of semiconductor devices and components. Its main activities include the manufacturing of semiconductor devices, microelectronics, power electronics, diodes and diode assemblies, microchips for pulse power supplies, optoelectronic switches, and servomechanisms.
The plant supplies products to at least 19 enterprises within Russia’s military-industrial complex, connected to the production of, among other things, Sukhyy aircraft, Iskander missiles, and Kinzhal missiles.
Despite being under international sanctions, the plant produces around three million devices annually and employs about 700 people.
The strike successfully hit the target area with 10 drones. A fire was confirmed. Detailed information about the damage is being clarified.
As a reminder, on the night of May 21, drones attacked a military plant in Russia’s Oryol region.
