According to Gordonua, on the morning of June 5, the army of the aggressor state, Russia, shelled the center of Kherson, as reported by the city’s military administration.

Initially, it was reported that one person had been injured—a 74-year-old man with a blast injury. Later, information emerged about a second wounded individual.

The city council reported that the city hall building came under enemy fire; photos show shattered windows. A medical facility was also damaged.

In the morning, the regional prosecutor’s office stated that a total of four guided aerial bombs had struck Kherson.

In addition, there were artillery and drone attacks. At least five apartment buildings, an administrative facility, and an educational institution were affected.

The publication “Most” has shared a photo of the Kherson Regional Military Administration building, reporting that a guided aerial bomb (KAB) struck it at 5:30 a.m.

Context

In February–March 2022, Russian forces occupied Kherson and almost the entire Kherson region. In November, Ukraine’s defense forces liberated the right-bank part of the Kherson region along with the regional capital.

Since then, Russian troops have systematically shelled Kherson and other de-occupied settlements in the region.
