EU officials expect that Iran will soon supply Russia with ballistic missiles, according to a report by Bloomberg. Sources cited by the agency noted that this could prompt a swift response from Ukraine’s allies, Information Resistance writes.
Preliminary data suggests that Iran has already supplied Russia with hundreds of drones throughout the invasion.
The United States and other NATO allies have repeatedly warned Tehran against taking such a step and are engaging in diplomatic efforts to prevent it.
If the delivery does take place, Iran could face a new wave of sanctions, although the effectiveness of these measures is uncertain given the numerous sanctions already imposed on Tehran.
Among the new restrictive measures being discussed by allies are sanctions against the airline Iran Air.
As reported by the IR group, Iran has received “Iskander” missiles and “Murmansk-BN” electronic warfare systems from Russia.
