The Russian minesweeper "Aleksandr Obukhov" has been disabled

The Russian minesweeper “Aleksandr Obukhov” has been disabled. This was informed by the Ukrainian Intelligence Service.

The ship, which was based in the city of Baltiysk and was supposed to go on combat duty, suffered severe damage due to a mysterious hole in the gas vent, allowing water to enter the engine: the “Obukhov” choked.

Now the Russian minesweeper is undergoing major repairs, which could prove to be a significant problem since the damaged M-503 engine is quite a rare piece of equipment. Repairing the ship’s main installation is technically complex and costly.

The “Obukhov” is the second neutralized ship of the Russian Baltic Fleet in the last six months, the Ukrainian Main Directorate of Intelligence reported.
