Russia – Ukraine war updates: daily briefings as of August 18, 2017

Russia – Ukraine war updates from the war zone in southeast Ukraine as of  August 18, 2017 by ATO HQ operational data and Presidential Administration spokesman on ATO issues briefing: EMPR highlights.



(1) Russian hybrid forces launched 28 attacks against Ukrainian troops in the war zone in eastern Ukraine over the last 24 hours, including 9 on Luhansk direction, 16 on Donetsk direction and 3 on Mariupol direction;
(2) Luhansk direction: Popasna district and Bahmut road remain the hottest spots on this direction; in particular, the enemy fired with small arms against Ukrainian troops in Novooleksandrivka and Troytske; in addition, Russian proxies mortar shelling reported in Novotoshkivske and Krymske;
(3) Donetsk direction: Russian proxies used hard weaponry, in particular mortar launchers against Ukrainian troops in Avdiivka; the enemy fired with small arms in Zaytseve, resulting damages to the residential houses; Russian forces used grenade launchers and machine guns fire during 2-hours-long shelling at Novoselivka Druha;
(4) Mariupol direction: Russian forces launched attacks in Krasnogorivks, Starognativka and Shyrokino; the hottest spot was in Starognativksa, where the enemy used hard weaponry, in particular released 10 artillery rounds, 6 tank rounds and 4 mortar mines during 1-hour endless shelling at Ukrainian troops positions; Russian occupiers also shelled with forbidden hard mortar launchers in Shyrokino; to this end, the enemy used small arms during shelling in Krasnogorivka;
(5) 1 Ukrainian serviceman was killed in action and  4 servicemen were wounded in actions in the war zone in eastern Ukraine over the last 24 hours.
