Ukraine war updates: daily briefings as of March 19, 2016

Ukraine war updates on March 19, 2016 by  ATO HQ operational data and Presidential Administration spokesman on  ATO issues briefing: EMPR highlights

(1) Tense situation continues in the war zone in eastern Ukraine as Russian armed forces opened fire 52 times over the last day: 36 times on Donetsk direction and 15 times on Mariupol direction and 1 time on Luhansk direction;

(2) Luhansk direction: Russian forces violated ceasefire once in Posnansky district and opened fire with the use of mortar launchers and APCs;

(3) Donetsk direction: situation became tense once again near Avdyivka, where Russian armed forces used forbidden heavy arms as 82-mm and 120-mm mortars numerous times; Ukrainian forces returned fire and give no chance to the enemy to seize this settlement; another hot spot in this sector was Zaytseve, where Russian armed forces used mortars as well as artillery (122-mm guns); ceasefire was also violated on Svitlodarska line; at the same time, situation in Donetsk airport was quiet; near Mayorsk Ukrainian positions came under Russian fire from grenades, machine guns and twice from mortars;

(4) Mariupol direction: Russian forces opened fire many times in the area of Maryinka with the small arms; Krasnogoryvka, Hnutove and Shyrokyno came under fire from Russians mortar launchers;

(5) No lethal casualties among Ukrainian serviceman reported in the war zone in eastern Ukraine over the last 24 hours, no KIA as well as no WIA.
