Russian Foreign Ministry reacted to the onset of the law on “The law “The specifics of state policy to ensure the state sovereignty of Ukraine in temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions”.

The law “The specifics of state policy to ensure the state sovereignty of Ukraine in temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions” that entered into force on Saturday, February 24, creates conditions for the forcible capture of uncontrolled territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions by Ukraine. This statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry was published on the official website of the Ministry.
“Having signed the above-mentioned law, P. Poroshenko actually crossed out the Minsk agreements by unleashing hands of the war party. “None of the direct dialogue with the authorities of the unrecognized republics, de-escalation of the confrontation and search for a peaceful political settlement is in question. The forcible capture of the uncontrolled territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions by Kyiv legalizes the use of the Ukrainian army against civilians”, the statement says.
The report says that the practical application of this law threatens the risks of a serious escalation of the conflict in the southeast of Ukraine.
“We hope that its (Ukraine – Ed.) Western curators are aware of this and will be able to use their influence on Kyiv to prevent the implementation of a disastrous scenario for Ukrainian statehood, fraught with unpredictable consequences for European stability and security”, the statement says.
As a reminder, that Bill No. 7163, “On the specifics of state policy to ensure the state sovereignty of Ukraine over temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions” was adopted by 280 votes by the Supreme Rada of Ukraine, and signed by President Poroshenok on February 20, 2018.
The bill should create a new legal basis for solving the problem of repelling enemy aggression in the Donbas, and in the long term – to restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine within the internationally recognized border.
