Russia - Ukraine war updates from the war zone in southeast Ukraine as of  December 17, 2017 by ATO HQ operational data and Ministry of Defence spokesman on ATO issues: EMPR highlights.



(1) Russian hybrid forces intensified activities in the war zone in eastern Ukraine and launched 31 attacks over the last 24 hours; Ukrainian forces returned fire in 22 cases;
(2) Luhansk direction: Russian occupiers used forbidden 120-mm and 82-mm mortar launchers  as well as various types of infantry weaponry against Ukrainian forces in Luhanske, Troytske, Novooleksandrivka, Krymske and Tryokhizbenka and released about 110 shells there; the enemy fired with grenade launchers and machine guns upon Ukrainian troops in Travneve and Luhanske;
(3) Donetsk and Mariupol directions: Russian proxies shelling with mortar launchers of different calibers and tanks took place near Hnutove; Avdiivka and Verkhnyotoretske also reported as hottest spot, the enemy fired with mortar launchers and infantry weaponry againt Ukraine troops there; Russian forces shelling with grenade launchers and small arms reported in Kamyanka, Starohnativka and Hranitne;
(4) No lethal casualties reported among Ukrainian troops, but 4 serviceman were wounded in action in the war zone in eastern Ukraine over the last 24 hours.
