Oleh Skrypka invented his “DNA” – this is his “Hutsulka Ksenia.”
Oleh Skrypka, founder of Ukrainian rock ‘n’ roll and organizer of numerous festivals, once again turned to Ukrainian tradition and sang old songs. This time, as part of the DNA project, he performed alongside Max Barskykh, Tina Karol, DOROFEEVA, and other well-known artists in Ukraine.
The key goal of the DNA project is to convey to the Ukrainian audience the entire multidimensionality of our tradition and present legendary Ukrainian tracks in a new sound and style without losing their natural depth. And to remind us once again that music shapes our identity to a large extent, unites us and inspires us to small and big victories.
“Projects like DNA are key to the development of culture in the context of today’s world, because they restore Ukrainian music content that attracts more and more Ukrainian listeners,” comments Oleg himself. “We have been waiting for such a musical transformation for a long time. Such a tragic event as the war unexpectedly brought us closer to our origins. And now, more than ever, we need to give our old songs a new life. We need to know our roots, because without them there is no way to the future!
Oleh Skrypka joined the DNA project because since the 80s, the artist has been constantly experimenting with classical pop and authenticity and interpreting music in his own unique way. 19 years ago, Oleg founded his legendary Krayina Mriy festival, a space for artists and fans of modern and ancient ethnic music. By the way, Oleh mentioned that he plans to restore the Kraina Mriy immediately after the war.
In total, the album “DNA” includes 18 old songs performed by famous Ukrainian artists. Here you can hear such songs as “Hutsulka Ksenia”, “Pidmanula Pidvedala”, “Plyve Kacha”, “Chom ty ne priyshov?”, “Gorila sosna”, “Tsvite teren” and others.
– “Hutsulka Ksenia is an exalted tango from the first half of the 20th century. We worked on it together with a wonderful music producer Dmytro Saratsky. This song sounds quite modern, but at the same time soulful, like in the old days, because there is no electronic sound in the recording. The incredible musicians we wrote it with are real professionals, they and producer Dmitry created this unique vibe. We gave a new life to this composition and put all our love into it!” says Oleg Skrypka.
General producer Iryna Pikalova, executive producer of S*EVENT, music producer Dmytro Saratsky, and visual designer Dmytro Khrunevych joined the creation of the DNA project.
The DNA album, including the song “Hutsulka Ksenia” performed by Oleg Skrypka, is already available on all streaming platforms. All proceeds will be transferred to the account of the the initiative of the President of Ukraine charity organization UNITED 24.
