The first Grand Slam quarter-final for Ukrainian starlet

Few hours ago Elina Svitolina from Odesa defeat French hope Alize Cornet at the French Grand Slam tournaments – the four most important annual tennis events.

Ukrainian 20 y. o. starlet Elina Svitolina from Odesa advances to first quater final of the Roland Garros.

Roland-Garros has long been the venue at which exciting young female stars have enjoyed their career breakthroughs. Think Maria Sharapova’s quarterfinal at age 17 in 2004, Ana Ivanovic’s trip to the final in 2007, and the exploits of Garbine Muguruza and Simona Halep here 12 months ago.

Today Elina Svitolina, battled rain, driving winds, an inspired opponent and an energetic crowd to defeat French hope Alize Cornet and advance to her first Grand Slam quarter-final.

From Monday Elina will reach 15th position in Women’s Tennis Rankings (WTR) as minimum, regardless of relusts of her quarters against Ana Ivanovic.
