The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) deployed unique, in-house developed UAVs to strike targets deep within Russian territory

The Security Service of Ukraine deployed in-house developed UAVs to strike targets deep within Russia.

During the special operation “Spiderweb,” the SBU used custom-designed drones specifically created for deep raids on enemy strategic sites.

These drones were engineered by SBU specialists with modern technologies and deep-strike mission requirements in mind. Operated remotely from thousands of kilometers away, the UAVs successfully bypassed Russian air defenses and precisely hit designated targets. These very drones were responsible for striking four Russian airfields.

The SBU recently released new footage from the “Spiderweb” operation, which took place on June 1. In the video, SBU chief Vasyl Maliuk comments on the mission, presenting its timeline and showing how the operation was planned and executed.

The U.S. Pentagon began reassessing its defense strategies following the SBU’s June 1 operation, with a particular focus on protection against drone attacks. According to U.S. Northern Command, 350 drone incursions were recorded over military bases in 2024, most of which were likely decoys or imitators.
