Russia – Ukraine war updates from the war zone in southeast Ukraine as of August 29, 2016 by ATO HQ operational data and Presidential Administration spokesman on ATO issues briefing: EMPR highlights.

(1) The situation in the war zone in eastern Ukraine is tense, as number of Russian hybrid forces’s attacks increased over the last day. In particular, the enemy fire 76 times upon Ukrainian troops, including: 12 times on Luhansk direction, 37 times on Donetsk direction and 27 times on Mariupol direction;

(2) Luhansk direction: Russian occupiers fired with mortars in Novooleksandrivka, Novozvanivka and Zhovte; the enemy used small arms in Zolote; Russian shelling with 82-mm mortars, grenade launchers of different systems, heavy machine guns and small arms reported in Stanytsya Luganska; to this end, Russian sniper fire reported in Novooleksandrivka;

(3) Donetsk direction: Russian forces fired with forbidden 152-mm artillery at Arkhangelske; the enemy launched 2-hours 122-mm mortars attack upon Ukrainian troops in Avdiivka and released more than 100 mines; in addition, the enemy launched massive attack with tanks and released 40 shells at Avdiivka; Russian occupiers also fired with 122-mm mortars at Pisky; fired with 80-mm mortars and used used infantry combat vehicles in the area of Svitlodarska line; Russian occupiers fired with antitank missile system at Novoselivka Druha; the enemy used antiaircraft installations against Ukrainian positions in Luhanske, Pisky and Avdiivka; to this end, Russian sniper fire reported in Pisky and Opytne;

(4) Mariupol direction: Russian occupiers released about 60 shells fron forbidden 122-mm artillery upon Ukrainian troops in Shyrokino and 7 more upon Ukrainian positions in Talakivka; the enemy’s attacks with mortars, grenade launchers and machine-gun fire took place in Maryinka, Taramchuk, Krasnogorivka and Talakivka; Shyrokine, Vodyane, Novotroyitske and Hnutove have been shelled with Russian grenade launchers of different systems and heavy machine guns; Russian forces used automatic grenade easels during attacks at Novogrygorivka and Starognativka; Russian infantry combat vehicles activities reported in Maryinka, while Russian sniper fire reported in Shyrokino;

(5) Russia’s armed forces and their proxies losses in the war zone in eastern Ukraine over the last 24 hours: 5 killed and 14 wounded;

(6) 1 Ukrainian servicemen were killed in action and 9 servicemen were wounded in action in the war zone in southeast Ukraine over the last 24 hours.
