Russia – Ukraine war updates from the war zone in southeast Ukraine as of August 21, 2017 by ATO HQ operational data and Presidential Administration spokesman on ATO issues briefing: EMPR highlights.
(1) Russian hybrid forces increased to 47 number of attacks against Ukrainian troops in the war zone in eastern Ukraine over the last 24 hours, including 11 times on Luhansk direction, 18 times on Donetsk direction and 18 times on Mariupol direction;
(2) Luhansk direction: Russian occupiers shelled with grenade luanchers upon Ukrainian positions near Krymske and Novooleksandrivka;
(3) Donetsk direction: Russian troops launched 7-hours-long endless shelling upon Ukrainian troops positions in Avdiivka industrial area, where the enemy actively used grenade launchers and machine guns, mortars of different calibers and released 16 rounds from portable reactive complex GRAD-partisan; to this end, Russian occupiers opened fire from forbidden 122-mm artillery at Kamyanka and Pisky; Russian occupiers shelling with the use of morta launchers fire reported in Opytne, Nevelske and Pisky; the enemy’s gunplay with the use of APCs took place in Luhanske; to this end, Russian proxies released in total 130 mines and rounds upon Ukrainian positions on this direction over the day;
(4) Mariupol direction: Russian forces launched attacks with the use of grenade launchers in Chermalyk, Vodyane, Krasnogorivka, Pavlopil, Maryinka and Talakivka; the enemy fired with the use of small arms upon residential houses in Maryina;
(5) Russian armed forces losses in the war zone in eastern Ukraine for the past week are as follows: 30 killed and 51 wounded in action;
(6) No lethal causalties reported among Ukrainian troops, but 5 servicemen were wounded in actions in the war zone in eastern Ukraine for the past day.
