Russia – Ukraine war operational update of the General Staff of Ukraine for the last 24 hours of Russia – Ukraine war as of 6:00 a.m., April 18, 2023.

419 day of the russian large-scale invasion has begun.

Over the past 24 hours, the russian forces have launched 4 missile and 41 air strikes, launched 57 attacks from rocket salvo systems on the positions of our troops and the civilian infrastructure of populated areas.

There are wounded among the civilian population.


The probability of launching missile and air strikes on the entire territory of Ukraine remains high.
The enemy suffers considerable losses, but continues to focus its main efforts on conducting offensive actions in the Kupyansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdyivka and Maryinka directions. Actively uses operational-tactical and army aviation.

During the past day, more than 70 enemy attacks were repulsed in the specified areas of the front. Bakhmut and Maryinka remain at the epicenter of hostilities.


No signs of the formation of offensive groups of the enemy were detected on the Volyn, Poliske, Siversk and Slobozhansk directions. A comprehensive check of the combat readiness of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus is underway.


During the past day, the enemy shelled the settlements of Sosnivka, Popivka and Iskryskivshchyna of the Sumy Oblast, as well as the settlements of Okip, Bayrak, Vovchansk, Okhrimivka and Nesterne in the Kharkiv Oblast.


On the Kupyansk direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions near Synkivka. Topoli, Krasne Pershe, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna and Zapadne of the Kharkiv Oblast came under enemy fire.


On the Lyman direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the area north of Spirnyi, without success. Stelmakhivka, Nevske, Belogorivka in the Luhansk Oblast and Ivanivka and Spirne in the Donetsk Oblast were hit by artillery fire.


The battles for the city of Bakhmut do not stop on the direction of Bakhmut. In the area of the settlements of Ivanovske and Predtechine, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions.

Vasyukivka, Minkivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Novomarkove, Bakhmut, Ivanovske, Chasiv Yar, Novodmytrivka, Pleshchiivka, Shcherbynivka, and Toretsk of the Donetsk Oblast were affected by enemy shelling.

On the Avdiyivka direction, unsuccessful enemy offensive attempts were recorded in the Novokalynovoy, Severnoy and Pervomaisky district of the Donetsk Oblast. The occupiers shelled, in particular, Keramik, Novokalynove, Berdychi, Avdiyivka, Tonenka, Netaylove, Pervomaiske and Karlivka.


On the Maryinka direction, numerous enemy attacks were repulsed in the Marinka area. At the same time, Krasnohorivka, Pobyeda and Novomykhailivka of the Donetsk Oblast came under enemy fire.


The enemy has not carried out offensive operations on the Shakhtarsk direction today. He shelled the settlements of Shakhtarske, Novoukrainka, Velyka Novosilka, Neskuchne, Zolota Niva, Prechistivka, and Vugledar.


The enemy continues to conduct defensive operations on the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions. During the last day, he carried out more than 40 shelling of populated areas. Among them are Vremivka, Novopil of the Donetsk Oblast; Malynivka, Chervone, Gulyaipole, Charivne, Mala Tokmachka, Orihiv of the Zaporizhzhia region; Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk region; Zolota Balka, Beryslav, Lviv, Ivanivka, Mykilske, Antonivka of the Kherson region and the city of Kherson.


Over the past 24 hours, the Air Force of the Defense Forces has carried out 12 strikes on areas where personnel and military equipment are concentrated. An enemy reconnaissance UAV of the “Merlin” type was also shot down.


Units of missile troops and artillery struck 2 areas of concentration of enemy manpower, weapons and military equipment, as well as 1 station of enemy radio-electronic warfare.
