NSC news & analysis center briefing at 12:30 May 31, 2015: highlights

News & Analysis Center of the National Security Council of Ukraine presents the latest updates from the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine on May 31, 2015 at its daily briefing.

Over the last 24 hours at the ATO Zone situation remain unquiet:
(1) Mariupil direction: combats took place near the village of Shyrokine. Militants violated the ceasefire agreement 4 times;

(2) Donetsk direction: tense situation remains near Donetsk airport. Particularly, battles continue near the villages of Pisky, Avdiyevka, Maryinka and near the city of Horlyvka. Minsk agreements violation from militantsà side was spotted twice. Pro-Russian militance used forbidden arms, 120 mm and 122 mm caliber artillery;

(3) Luhansk direction: Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups intensified their actions. The hottest spots were near the city of Schastya, Stanytsya Luhanska and the village of Triokhizbenka;

(4) Ukrainian border guards detained 6 armed militants from saboteurs group that attempted to get into the village of Triokhizbenka;

(5) Illegal armed groups used heavy machine guns against Ukrainian forces near the city of Popasne, Zolote and Kirove. Militants also tried to attack Ukrainian forces near the villages of Troyitske and Lozove;

(6) Over the last 24 hours 3 enemy”s UAV’s were spotted over the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine;

(7) 1 Ukrainian soldier was killed and 1 was wounded over the last 24 hours;

(8) Ukrainian security service (SBU) detained LPR saboteur in Kyiv;

(9) Militants use intimidation policy toward civilians in the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine. Militants fabricate criminal cases to break any resistance and social discontent;

(10) Extensive trainings has started for Ukrainian paratroopers at the military base ”Shyroky Lan” (Mykolayiv Oblast).
