At the beginning of the meeting, Donald Trump said: “We have a very good relationship, and I also have a very good relationship, as you know, with President Putin. And I think if we win, I think we’ll resolve this very quickly.” In response, the Ukrainian president said: “I hope we have better relations with you.”
Trump also expressed hope that if he wins the election, he will find a “good” solution for both sides of the war even before the inauguration. “Zelenskyy has gone through an enormous amount of trials; there has never been anyone like him.
It is a great honor for me to meet him,” the U.S. presidential candidate said. He also expressed a willingness to work with Democrats to end the hostilities.
After the meeting, Trump noted that he had “learned a lot” from the conversation with Zelenskyy and said he wants a “fair deal for everyone.”
“We need to do everything we can to put pressure on Putin to stop this war,” Zelenskyy added.
“President Zelenskyy and I want this war to end. And end fairly. I think it will happen at the right time,” Trump concluded.
