The Church of St. Nicholas in Kyiv, damaged by Russian shelling, will be restored to its 19th-century authenticity, according to the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications.

To prevent further destruction, temporary coverings are being installed to maintain an optimal temperature inside the building. These measures aim to protect the façade and interior spaces from external damage while preparatory work for the continuation of restoration is underway.

The ministry also announced plans to produce new glass elements for the central stained-glass composition, which was destroyed during the shelling. The restoration will be based on authentic blueprints and entries in the object’s restoration passport. The stained glass will be made using modern materials that address contemporary challenges while staying true to the artistic vision of the original creators from 1899–1909.
