The Russian military continues to terrorize Ukrainians. On the night of July 18, the enemy launched “Shakhedi”, with which they attack the South, in particular, Odesa. Explosions rang out in the city, it is known about the work of air defense.
In Odesa, the Air Force of Ukraine destroyed:
- 6 out of 6 Kalibr cruise missiles,
- 21 of 21 iranian shahed drones.
Unfortunately, the fragments of the downed missiles and the blast wave from the downing damaged the objects of the port infrastructure, several private households, and injured a man, the Regional military Administration reports.
Earlier yesterday, the information become available that Odesa may become a potential russian target for the night attack as surface drones which successfully hitted the Crimean bridge on July 17, are based in the city.
The night attack on the south of Ukraine was aimed at food supply.
“The night attack of the russian forces on Odesa and Mykolaiv with the use of missiles and shahed drones is another proof that the terrorist country wants to endanger the lives of 400 million people in various countries who depend on Ukrainian food exports,” – wrote the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
He emphasized that the goal of the russian Federation is hunger and killing people.
In total, on the night of July 18, 2023, the enemy attacked Ukraine from the south with 6 Kalibr cruise missiles and 36 Shahed attack drones.
The Calibers were launched presumably from the Russian frigate Admiral Essen, the shahed drones from the area of the Chauda training ground, occupied Crimea.
The forces and means of the Air Force destroyed 6 russian Kalibrs cruise missiles, 31 enemy shahed drones and 1 reconnaissance UAV.
Kalibr cruise missiles and the vast majority of kamikaze drones were destroyed in the south – in the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions, the rest of the attack UAVs were hit in the Donetsk, Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
During the past day on July 17, air defenses destroyed three Shahed-type strike UAVs, one Lancet, and nine reconnaissance UAVs of the operational-tactical level.
During the current and past days, the Air Force aircraft carried out up to 15 group airstrikes against the Russian occupiers.
