Massive russia’s attack: 55 missiles fly over Ukraine

The main thing about the mass missile attack on Ukraine on January 26, 2023.

The russian forces launched 55 air and sea-based missiles (Kh-101, Kh-555, X-47 "Kinzhal", "Kalibr", Kh-59) from Tu-95, Su-35, MiG-31K aircraft and ships from the water area Black Sea.

This information was officially confirmed by Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The forces and means of Air Defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed 47 cruise missiles, 20 of them in the area of the capital.

In addition, three of the four Kh-59 guided air missiles did not reach their targets.

What is known so far:

  • In Kyiv, explosions rang out in the Dnipro and Holosiiv districts - a 55-year-old man was killed by falling missile debris, and two more people were injured. All 20 russian missiles aimed at the capital were shot down. According to preliminary information, Kyiv was hit today with either "Daggers" or "Iskanders" missiles. The speed of the missiles was many times higher than conventional cruise missiles. The launches, in advance, were from the territory of russia.
  • In Kyiv Oblast, fragments of russian missiles were found in several districts. There are no casualties. It is known in advance about damage to civil infrastructure objects, private and multi-story buildings, and residents' cars in some areas of the region. There is also a hit to an energy object.
  • In Odesa Oblast, two energy infrastructure facilities were hit. In the area of problems with light. There are no casualties. Three Kalibr missiles were shot down over Odeshchyna.
  • There is an arrival in the Vinnytsia Oblast, previously without casualties.

It worth to mention, that for the first time in a long time, russians used Kh-47M2 Kinzhal hypersonic missiles. We looking at the official report from the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Meantime, our source reports there were two fighter-carriers of these MiG-31K missiles (1 in belarus and 1 in russia).

These could be take-offs from the Akhtubinsk air base of the Astrakhan region, or they could be launched from the territory of belarus and the caspian Sea.

As of now, it is impossible to intercept this type of missile, Ukrainian forces do not have the means to do it. It is also not known so far where exactly the launches were carried out.
