Kyiv was hit with new russian S-400 SAM system missiles

Kyiv was hit with new missiles for Russia’s new S-400 SAM system.

Russia used a new missile for its new S-400 SAM system to target the capital of Ukraine. When working on ground targets, it has a range of about 230 km

It was reported  in Serhiy Zhurets’ column with reference to Defense Express.

According to the Commander-in-Chief of the AFU Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Russia used S-300 or S-400 SAMs to attack the capital from the North.

Defense Express obtained a photo of the fragments of missiles that hit Kyiv, although there were several attacks: both at facilities in the capital and at populated areas near Kyiv, in particular, Makarov and Kopyliv. Analysts found an index on those fragments that indicated the 48N6DM missile.

It is a new missile for Russia’s new S-400 SAM system. When working on ground targets, it has a range of about 230 km. The weight of the warhead is 180 kg.

The missile is known to have several thousand fragments of an identical unique shape. They suggest that it is the second time these new 48N6DM missiles have been used against the capital. Earlier, the same fragments were found close to a destroyed private building on Protasiv Yar and in the destroyed hotel behind the Ukrayina palace during the December missile attacks on Kyiv.

The strikes are likely to have been carried out from the territory of Belarus, from the Zyabrivka airfield 30 km from the border with Ukraine. However, the General Staff cautiously says that the strikes on Kyiv were carried out from the North. With a range of 230 km, they can also be carried out from the border area in the Bryansk region.

To remind, on Saturday, January 14, the Russians again launched a missile attack  on Kyiv, with hits recorded at several addresses in Holosiivskyi and Dniprovskyi districts, 18 private houses were damaged in the region. According to Deputy Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Tymoshenko, the Russians launched a missile attack on critical infrastructure facilities.
