Russia – Ukraine war operational update of the General Staff of Ukraine for the last 24 hours of Russia – Ukraine war as of 6:00 a.m., June 1, 2023. 

463 day of the russian large-scale invasion has begun.

The russian Federation, suffering heavy losses, continues to wage a war of aggression. It uses terror tactics, trying to intimidate the population of Ukraine, carries out strikes, attacks not only military, but also civilian objects.


Tonight, the enemy fired missiles at civilian and critical infrastructure facilities in the Kyiv region.
A total of 10 ballistic and cruise missiles of the “Iskander” type were launched from the northern direction – Bryansk region of the Russian Federation. All 10 were destroyed by the air defense forces and means of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: seven Iskander-M ballistic missiles and three Iskander-K cruise missiles.


Over the past 24 hours, the enemy has launched 3 missile and 29 air strikes, launched 49 attacks from rocket salvo systems on the positions of our troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, there are victims among the civilian population, private residential buildings and other infrastructure have been damaged.


The probability of launching missile and air strikes on the entire territory of Ukraine remains very high.


The enemy continues to focus its main efforts on attempts to completely occupy the Luhansk and Donetsk Oblasts. During the past day, units of the defense forces repelled 21 Russian attacks.


In the Volyn and Polissya directions, the operational situation remains stable, no signs of the formation of offensive groups have been detected.


In the Siversk and Slobozhanskyi directions, the russian occupiers continue to maintain a military presence in the areas bordering Ukraine. During the past day, they carried out an airstrike in the Pletenivka area of the Kharkiv Oblast, carried out mortar and artillery attacks on the settlements of Karpovichy, Tymonovychy, Yanzhulivka, Galaganivka of the Chernihiv Oblast, Seredyna-Buda, Progress, Fotovizh, Studentok, Hirky, Atynske, Shpyl, Ugroydy, Velyka Pisarivka of the Sumy Oblast oblast, as well as Udy, Hoptivka, Liptsi, Strelecha, Zelene, Ternova, Staritsa, Gatishche, Vovchansk, Pletenivka, Vovchanski Khutory, Ogirtseve, Mala Vovcha, Varvarivka, Chugunivka, Ambarne, Hryhorivka in Kharkiv Oblast.


In the Kupyansk direction, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive actions west of Masyutivka in the Kharkiv Oblast and in the directions of Novoselivskyi and Stelmakhivka in the Luhansk Oblast.

russian irstrikes reported in Kislivka and Kotlyarivka districts of Kharkiv Oblast. The settlements of Krasne Pershe, Figolivka, Novomlynsk, Zapadne, Masyutivka, Kislivka, Berestov in the Kharkiv Oblast and Novoselivske in the Luhansk Oblast came under russian artillery and mortar fire.


In the Lyman direction, the enemy carried out offensive actions south of Bilogorivka, without success. The enemy carried out airstrikes in Terni and Siversk districts of Donetsk oblast. The settmemets of Nevske and Bilogorivka in the Luhansk Oblast and Novosadove, Torske and Spirne in the Donetsk oblast were hit by artillery fire.


In the Bakhmut direction, during the past day, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the directions of Orichovo-Vasylivka and Bila Hora. Kramatorsk, Vasyukivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Novomarkove, Hryhorivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Predtechine, Bila Gora, Diliivka, Zalizne and New York of the Donetsk region suffered from enemy artillery shelling.


The enemy did not conduct offensive operations in the Avdiivka direction. Conducted an airstrike in the Avdiyivka area. He carried out artillery shelling of the settlements of Novokalynove, Orlivka, Avdiyivka, Tonenka, Severna, Netaylove, Karlivka, Pervomaiske and Nevelske of the Donetsk region.


In the Marinka direction, our defenders repelled all enemy attacks in the area of the city of Marinka. The enemy launched an air strike there. Kurakhove, Maksimilianivka, Georgiivka, Maryinka, Pobyeda, Elizavetivka, Katerynivka, Kostyantynivka and Novomykhailivka of the Donetsk region were hit by artillery fire.


In the Shakhtarskyi direction, the enemy carried out airstrikes in the area of Vugledar and Prechistivka. He shelled the settlements of Bogoyavlenka, Vugledar, Novoukrainka, Prechistivka, Zolota Niva, Shakhtarske, and Velyka Novosilka.


The enemy continues to conduct defensive operations in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions. He shelled the settlements of Vremivka, Vilne Pole, Novosilka, Zelene Pole, Novopil, Temyrivka of the Donetsk region; Olgivske, Malynivka, Gulyaipole, Zaliznychne, Gulyaipilske, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanilivka, Novoandriivka and Stepove Kamianske, Zaporizhzhia region; Beryslav, Kozatske, Ivanivka, Antonivka, Komysany, Dniprovske, Kizomys, Shiroka Balka of the Kherson region and the city of Kherson.


Despite numerous appeals from the IAEA and world leaders, the occupiers continue to turn the temporarily captured Energodar of the Zaporizhzhia region into a military logistics base. For example, the “Non-standard equipment and pipelines” factory is used by the invaders to repair military equipment, and the “Special constructions” factory and the “House-building plant” were turned by the occupiers into a warehouse for military equipment, weapons and ammunition.


Over the past day, the aviation of the Defense Forces of Ukraine carried out 15 strikes on areas where the enemy’s personnel and military equipment are concentrated, 2 of them on anti-aircraft missile systems.


Our defenders destroyed 5 enemy rockets blowing UAVs.


During the day, units of missile forces and artillery hit 1 control post, 1 artillery unit in a firing position, 2 ammunition depots and 2 electronic warfare stations.


In total, Ukrainian soldiers destroyed 2 tanks, 6 armored combat vehicles, 14 artillery systems, 7 UAVs of operational-tactical level, 9 vehicles and 4 units of special equipment.
