Illegal movement of millions of cash over the demarcation line in Ukraine’s war zone stopped

Two attempts to deliver significant amounts of cash from the non-government controlled territory at Stanytsia Luhanska checkpoint in the war zone in eastern Ukraine stopped.

Employees of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, included in the Joint Forces, together with the Border Guard servicemen stopped two attempts to deliver significant amounts of cash from the non-government controlled territory at Stanytsia Luhanska checkpoint in the war zone in eastern Ukraine.

While examining the belongings of a resident of Luhansk region, born in 1985, who was crossing the checkpoint from Luhansk to Stanytsia Luhanska, they found two million hryvnias in the false bottom of his backpack.

On the same day, another 43-year-old resident of Luhansk region tried to avoid control and move 745,000 hryvnias from the non-government controlled territory.

In both cases, the SBU staff and the national police department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Luhansk region were immediately informed of these facts in order to make a decision under the current legislation.
