The Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights responded to the latest execution of a Ukrainian prisoner of war

Dmytro Lubinets addressed the UN and the ICRC: “The execution of a Ukrainian prisoner of war by the Russians is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions!

The country holding prisoners is obligated to ensure their lives are preserved and is responsible for their treatment. Every such execution requires a proper investigation, and the international community must not remain silent about the systematic crimes of the occupiers.

Therefore, I am reporting and sending letters to the ICRC and the UN regarding all cases of potential killings of Ukrainian prisoners of war. These international organizations must compel Russia to adhere to international humanitarian law and document every violation.”

He added that Russia deliberately executes Ukrainian prisoners of war and spreads such videos in the information space to intimidate Ukrainians.

However, Lubinets noted: “All information always requires thorough verification. One should not trust everything disseminated by the enemy.”

It was reported today that Russians have executed another Ukrainian prisoner of war.

They filmed their crime and published it online, according to the state project “I Want to Live”: “We have long understood that the Ukrainian army is dealing with sadists and murderers.

But what kind of person needs to be to record their own crimes, facilitating the identification of their own identity,” the project stated, assuring that Ukrainian special services are aware of all such incidents and that Russian criminals will be held accountable.

Currently, the Prosecutor General’s Office is investigating 28 executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russian armed forces since the beginning of the major war, in which a total of 62 Ukrainian servicemen were killed, noted Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin in response to a CNN inquiry.
