Zelenskyi and Xi Jinping talks took place. The war continues

The press is going crazy: Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Xi Jinping talked on the phone. So what?

They couldn't help but talk after China unveiled its approach to peace in Ukraine. Because if you only contact one side of the war, the aggressor, and not the victim of the attack, then such a peacemaker will simply be sent for a famous ship. President Xi, as the leader of a superpower, cannot afford this.

After Comrade Xi's visit to Moscow, I predicted that his conversation with Zelensky would not take place immediately after his conversation with Putin, but after Xi Jinping had tried to gauge the mood of European leaders. Emmanuel Macron turned out to be such a guinea pig. And after his visit to Beijing, everything worked out.

The content of the 52-minute conversation, of which half of the time was spent on translation, is unknown to anyone but the participants and those present. But it's not hard to guess the content.

Putting aside the diplomatic blah-blah-blah about how Ukraine respects China's efforts to promote peace, we are left with President Zelensky's consent to potential negotiations with the sub-empire. This consent is confirmed by the fact that China is forming a special group for contacts between Ukraine and Russia to find opportunities for such negotiations, as well as the urgent appointment of Ukraine's ambassador to China.

I want to emphasize that there is no "betrayal" here. Because any negotiations with the aggressor can only take place after the military campaign in the summer and fall. Based on the results achieved by the parties. And even if Comrade Xi would like to initiate negotiations immediately at Putin's tearful request, he simply does not have the leverage to cancel the Ukrainian offensive, which has long been planned.

Let me remind you that Volodymyr Zelenskyy has publicly denied the possibility of his own talks with Putin personally. And no one refused to negotiate with someone other than Putin. At the same time, the complete liberation of all the occupied territories as a condition for the start of any negotiations, which has been repeatedly voiced by the office of our president, does not seem realistic today. And this is precisely what the fact of the telephone conversation between the leaders of Ukraine and China confirms.
