Reintegration of combat veterans into peaceful life is one of the new challenges Ukrainian society is facing. Prosthetics and accessibility are among the central themes in this discourse. “Winners” photo exhibition that opened in the Taras Shevchenko Museum in Kyiv in early February presents the stories of 18 combat veterans who lost their limbs but not the spirit. The exhibition is co-organized by 1+1 TV channel and Viva! magazine, the veterans were photographed by Oleksandr Morderer. The magazine released a special edition with stories of each of the 18 veterans. It can be purchased right on the spot, organizers say funds will be passed for prosthetics development. “The project is entitled ‘Winners’ as these are the people who have overcome everything – the circumstances, the situation. They are undoubtedly the winners,” says Solomiya Vitvitska, curator of the exhibition and 1+1 TV host. More photos and details are available on museum’s web site.
