Kyiv on Fire: Massive Russian Attack on the Heart of Ukraine

This night, July 4, 2025 Russia launched a massive strike on Ukraine, using attack drones and missiles of various types. The main blow fell on Kyiv.

The attack caused destruction in at least five districts of the capital. Residential buildings, social infrastructure, hospitals, and educational institutions were damaged. Rail infrastructure was also hit.

One of the largest combined attacks. 550 airstrikes on Ukraine. And almost everything Russia attacked with today was on the capital.

Currently, more than 20 locations with damage have been recorded. We have more than 20 victims, including a 10-year-old girl. There is information about 14 hospitalized. More accurate data continues to be received.

The Solomyanskyi district was the most affected. In Otradny – residential buildings, shops. In other locations, a private house, schools, cafes, a garage cooperative, a service station were damaged. Rescuers are also currently fighting a fire in the non-residential development zone.

More than 30 apartment buildings, 5 educational institutions, and many private houses were damaged in the district. Headquarters have been deployed at Otradny, 36B (school No. 22) and Novopolovaya Street, 106B (gymnasium No. 13).

In the Svyatoshynskyi district, the consequences and damage occurred at least in 6 locations. At least 10 apartment buildings were damaged. The largest number was on Lesya Kurbas. Rescuers extinguished a car fire. In one of the locations, the 2nd and 3rd floors of a 14-story residential building were damaged.

The Dniprovskyi district was also affected. Minor damage occurred in several locations. Specialists also found parts of enemy drones near the lyceum.

In the Darnytskyi district, parts of enemy drones were found in an open area. Fortunately, there was no large-scale destruction.

In the Shevchenkivskyi district, two residential buildings were damaged. Fortunately, no injuries. The buildings are not yet inhabited. A fire also broke out in an open area near the school.

In the Holosiivskyi district, parts of enemy targets were found in several places.

Rescuers, our services, the police are working everywhere.

Large-scale fires broke out in some areas of the city, so residents were urged to close their windows tightly due to the high content of combustion products in the air.

On the night of July 4 (from 18:00 on July 3), the russians attacked with 550 air attack vehicles:

  • 539 Shahed strike UAVs and simulator drones of various types from the directions: Kursk, Shatalovo, Orel, Bryansk, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk – Russia (over 330 of them – “Shaheeds”);
  • 1 Kh-47 M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missile from the airspace of Lipetsk region – Russia;
  • 6 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles from Bryansk region – Russia;
  • 4 Iskander-K cruise missiles from Kursk, Voronezh region – Russia.

The main direction of attack is the capital of Ukraine, the city of Kyiv.

The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

According to preliminary data, as of 08:00, air defense neutralized 478 enemy air attack vehicles, 270 were shot down by fire weapons, and 208 were lost in location:

  • 268 enemy Shahed-type UAVs (other types of UAVs) were shot down by fire weapons, 208 were lost in location/suppressed by electronic warfare;
  • 2 Iskander-K cruise missiles.

Enemy air attack vehicles were hit in 8 locations (9 missiles and 63 UAVs), as well as the fall of downed vehicles (fragments) in 33 locations.

On the night of July 4, a Russian combined strike hit a medical emergency services vehicle that was on its way to respond to calls to injured people.

Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko wrote about this.

According to him, at least five ambulances were damaged during the shelling. These were medical vehicles that were already working at the sites of the strikes or were moving to the epicenters of destruction in various areas of the capital.

The State Emergency Service warned of the threat of a high-rise building collapsing after a Russian strike.

In Kyiv, a five-story building was damaged after a night attack by the Russian Federation. The State Emergency Service warns of the threat of collapse.

This was reported by the head of the press service of the State Emergency Service, Svitlana Vodolaga, at a telethon.

In the Solomyansky district of Kyiv, a five-story residential building was partially destroyed as a result of a night attack by Russia. Apartments on the 2nd and 3rd floors were completely destroyed. Rescuers are working at the scene.

“There is a threat of collapse. That is why rescuers are working at the scene. We are not letting the residents of the building into their homes yet, because this poses a danger to their lives and health,” she said.


According to authorities, residential buildings, medical and educational institutions, as well as transport infrastructure facilities were damaged. As of this morning, a 10-year-old girl was among the injured.

Emergency services – the State Emergency Service, police, and medics – have been working at the scene of the strikes since the first minutes.
