The Ukrainian delegation at the talks in Istanbul communicates with the Russians through an interpreter

The Ukrainian delegation during the peace negotiations in Istanbul, Turkey, communicates with representatives of the Russian Federation through an interpreter.

This was reported by the “Interfax-Ukraine” agency.

Ukraine is represented at the negotiations by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, first deputies of the heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), and other officials.

The Russian delegation is headed by Vladimir Medinsky. Its composition also includes deputies of the heads of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defense, as well as the chief of the Main Directorate of the General Staff.

Sources from the Ukrainian delegation told the agency that communication with the Russians takes place through an interpreter.

Earlier, it became known that for the first time in more than three years, direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine began in Istanbul.

It was reported that Russia sent a low-level delegation headed by Putin’s aide Vladimir Medinsky.

Media also reported that the Russians in Istanbul demanded that U.S. representatives not be present at the negotiations with the Ukrainian side.
