Twitter's dark turn: the role of Putin's allies in Musk's takeover

Elon Musk has finally complied with the demands and provided a list of shareholders in “X Holding Corp” who helped the billionaire acquire Twitter.

And who do you think turned out to be investors in the X platform, besides Islamists and Trump’s lobbyists? That’s right – Petr Aven and Vadim Moshkovich.

Now it’s absolutely clear why Musk has such an affinity for Russia and the origins of those “filters” on anti-Russian posts. Let me remind you who Aven and Moshkovich are.

Petr Aven is a Russian billionaire, founder of “Alfa Group,” which is one of Putin’s main financial backers.

This man is highly controlled by the Kremlin. For example, in 2018, he and his colleague Fridman went to Washington to lobby on behalf of the Russian government for the lifting of international sanctions on Russia. Aven is one of Putin’s oldest friends. Without Aven’s intervention, Putin would likely be in prison rather than the president.

After all, Aven protected Vladimir Putin in 1992 when he organized illegal trade in export licenses.

Aven urgently appointed him as an authorized representative of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations with the right to engage in foreign economic activity, thereby saving the future dictator from prison.

Aven was also present at the meeting with Putin on February 24, 2022, marking the start of the invasion of Ukraine.

He did not express any protest against the start of the “Special Military Operation” and silently supported Putin. Incidentally, he, along with Fridman, is trying to have sanctions against him lifted, but just yesterday he was denied again.

In the purchase of Twitter, Aven is represented by the company “8VC Opportunities Fund II, L.P.,” where his son Denis works.

Vadim Moshkovich is a sanctioned Russian agricultural billionaire who was a member of the “Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.”

In other words, he was officially part of Putin’s inner circle. Moshkovich owns Russia’s largest agricultural holding, “Rusagro.”

Naturally, he was also present at the meeting with Putin on February 24, 2022, and, like Aven, did not protest against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

In the purchase of Twitter, he is represented by the company “8VC Opportunities Fund II, L.P.,” where his son Jack (Evgeny) works.

Another interesting figure is Al-Waleed bin Talal Al Saud, who, both personally and through his company Kingdom Holding Company, appears on the list of investors three times.

This man continues to invest in Russia and privately supports Hamas in its war against Israel.

When it comes to investments in Russia, he regularly collaborates with companies like Rosneft, Lukoil, and Gazprom.

Knowing all this, how can anyone even discuss the bias of Elon Musk?

Everyone wondered how it was possible that Twitter (X) shares were falling, advertisers were pulling out, and no one was doing anything about it.

This is direct harm to investors. But everyone overlooked the fact that profit doesn’t matter to these investors; they needed the platform to promote their narratives, such as supporting Putin and Russia, lobbying for a freeze in the war in Ukraine, removing Ukraine from the top news stories, justifying Hamas’ activities, and so on.

It is now clear that all the changes at Twitter, which are ruining this wonderful platform, are a result of Elon Musk’s collaboration with people like Moshkovich and Aven.
