King Charles paid them tribute: Ukrainian unit welcomed with applause at the parade in London.
Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen took part in a parade in London marking the 80th anniversary of victory in World War II. The Ukrainian defenders were met with loud applause, and King Charles paid tribute to them.
This was reported by Sky News and The Guardian. The outlets noted that the Ukrainian soldiers participating in the parade are currently undergoing training in the United Kingdom.

The military parade proceeded from the British Parliament to Buckingham Palace. The event was filled with color: the Irish Guards Band marched down London’s central avenue in their red uniforms, followed by flag bearers from Commonwealth nations.

As the Ukrainian soldiers, carrying the blue-and-yellow flag, marched past the grandstand where members of the Royal Family and leading British politicians were gathered, King Charles stood up in a gesture of respect and saluted them.
Spectators along Whitehall welcomed them with applause and shouts of support. Many in the crowd climbed onto benches and street fixtures in an effort to get a better view of the Ukrainian defenders.

Watching the parade from the grandstand were King Charles, Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and their three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine were invited to take part in the parade in London marking the 80th anniversary of victory in World War II. The UK Ministry of Defence emphasized that the invitation to the Ukrainians symbolizes “global support for their fight for freedom” against the aggressor country, Russia.

“In the midst of the first full-scale war in Europe since World War II, it is entirely appropriate that the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who are now fighting on the front line of the struggle for freedom, were represented at Monday’s event,” said UK Defence Secretary John Healey.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, the Kremlin was enraged by the invitation of Ukrainian servicemen to the parade in London dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory Day and the defeat of Nazism in World War II. The country, which has been waging a war of aggression for four years, called the invitation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to the British parade “blasphemy.”
