Ukraine is preparing to halt the transit of Russian gas starting from 2025

Ukraine is preparing to stop the transit of Russian gas starting from 2025, when the current contract between Ukraine and Russia expires, according to Sergey Makogon, former head of the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine.

It is expected that the tariff for gas transportation for domestic consumers will increase to 0.6 UAH per cubic meter from the current 0.2 UAH/cubic meter.

This means that the price of gas supply will “increase by no more than 3%.” According to him, the increase in gas prices is not as critical as the rise in electricity prices.

“When we have a market price of gas at 12 UAH/cubic meter, an increase of 40 kopecks, which is less than 3%, will not create problems for consumers.

This summer, the market price of electricity rose by 60%.

If the final price of gas rises by 5-10%, in my opinion, nothing terrible will happen,” the expert notes.
