Russia struck the communications institute in Poltava with a ballistic missiles: half a hundred killed and nearly three hundred injured

Rocket terror against civilians, attacks on children and the sick, murders in broad daylight—these epithets all describe one enemy on the ground. The Russians continue to kill Ukrainians to intimidate the people. On September 3, during a working and school day, Russia launched a missile strike on Poltava: an explosion occurred near an educational institution in the city.

Poltava: the shelling and its consequences

According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, the Russians struck one of the educational institutions in the city.

— According to available information, the enemy used two ballistic missiles.

The time interval between the alarm and the arrival of the deadly missiles was so short that it caught people in the middle of their evacuation to the bomb shelter.

One of the institute’s buildings was partially destroyed, and many people were trapped under the rubble. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of rescuers and medics, 25 people were saved, 11 of whom were freed from under the debris, according to the report.

As noted by the head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, Filip Pronin, all relevant services are working on-site.

— The maximally coordinated actions of rescuers and medics today saved many lives. Many Poltava residents are donating blood to help the wounded. As of now, there are all the necessary components for blood transfusion. You can become a donor on any day throughout the week, — Pronin noted.

The official also emphasized that Ukrainians should trust only official sources of information and not give in to panic.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reacted to the missile strike on Poltava.

— A strike on the territory of an educational institution and a nearby hospital. One of the buildings of the Communications Institute was partially destroyed. People were trapped under the rubble. Many were rescued.

More than 180 people were injured. Unfortunately, many were killed. As of this moment, 41 fatalities are known.

I have ordered a full and prompt investigation of all the circumstances of what happened. All necessary services are involved in the rescue operation. I am grateful to everyone who has been helping people and saving lives since the first moments after the strike, — the president said.

According to the information from the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, rescuers have already localized the fire and continue clearing the debris.

— Thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts, 25 people have been rescued, 11 of whom were pulled out from under the rubble. All the injured are being immediately transferred to doctors for medical assistance. A residential area is located near the impact site.

In the nearby high-rise buildings, the blast wave shattered windows and damaged facades.

The police are conducting door-to-door checks to ensure there are no additional victims. Nearly a hundred reports of damaged property have already been filed, — he added.

Due to the updated information 53 Ukrainian died and 271 injured as of morning of DSeptemeber 4, 2024.
