Russia constructing aircraft shelters at military bases in occupied Crimea

Russia has begun constructing aircraft shelters at military bases in occupied Crimea.

Satellite images show that Russia has begun building aircraft shelters at its military bases following a Ukrainian special operation.

This was reported by Radio Liberty, according to Ukrinform.

Signs of construction work on these shelters can be seen in satellite images of the Kirovske airfield in Russian-occupied Crimea, as well as in Sevastopol, Hvardiiske, and Saky, OSINT analyst Def Mon reported.

Similar construction work is underway in Russia itself — in Yeysk, Krymsk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, at the Khanskaya airbase in Adygea, as well as in Millerovo, Akhtubinsk, Borisoglebsk, Kursk, and Lipetsk, and at the strategic aviation base in Engels.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, on June 1 the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) carried out a unique special operation called “Spiderweb,” striking Russian airfields at Belaya, Dyagilevo, Olenya, and Ivanovo.

The operation successfully targeted 41 Russian strategic aircraft, including A-50s, Tu-95s, Tu-22M3s, and Tu-160s.

According to SBU head Vasyl Maliuk, the “Spiderweb” special operation was conducted simultaneously across three time zones and was extremely complex from a logistical standpoint. First, the SBU smuggled FPV drones into Russia, followed by mobile wooden cabins.

Once inside Russian territory, the drones were hidden under the roofs of the cabins, which were mounted on cargo trucks.

At the right moment, the cabin roofs were remotely opened, and the drones launched to strike their targets.

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine carried out Operation “Spiderweb” independently, without assistance from international partners.
