Russia – Ukraine war updates: daily briefings as of January 18, 2018
Russia – Ukraine war updates from the war zone in southeast Ukraine as of January 18, 2018 by ATO HQ operational data and Ministry of Defence spokesman on ATO issues: EMPR highlights.
(1) Russian hybrid forces intensified their armed activities and launched 7 attacks in the war zone in eastern Ukraine for the last 24 hours, including 2 on Luhansk direction and 5 on Donetsk and Mariupol directions. The enemy released in total 40 mortar mines of 120-mm and 82-mm caliber upon Ukrainian troops positions.
(2) Luhansk direction: Russian proxies fulfilled 2 long shelling with the use of 120-mm mortar launchers and released 24 mines upon Ukrainian troops positions. The enemy also actively used grenade luanchers of differnt systems.
(3) Donetsk and Mariupol directions: Russian occupiers released 8 mines of forbidden 120-mm caliber upon Ukrainian servicemen in Avdiivka and 2 mines of 82-mm caliber near Pisky and Verkhnyitiretske. It worth to mention, that besides mentioned above, the enemy also used the following weaponry against Ukrainian troops in Novotroytske and Hranitne: grenade luanchers, high caliber machine guns and small arms.
(4) 1 Ukrainian serviceman was killed in action (near Hranitne), 2 Ukrainian servicemen deadly hit a mine (Luhansk direction) and 5 Ukrainian servicemen were wounded in actions in the war zone in eastern Ukraine over the past day.
