Russia – Ukraine war operational update of the General Staff of Ukraine for the last 24 hours of Russia – Ukraine war as of 6:00 a.m., July 29, 2023. 

521 day of the russian large-scale invasion and 3,448 day of the russia’s war against Ukraine begins.

During the past day, the Russian Federation launched a missile attack on the city of Dnipro, using 2 Iskander-M ballistic missiles. In addition, the enemy carried out 11 airstrikes, launched 38 attacks from rocket salvo systems on the positions of our troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, there are victims among the civilian population, residential buildings, other civil and administrative infrastructure were destroyed.


The probability of launching missile and air strikes on the entire territory of Ukraine remains high.


During the day, 27 combat clashes took place.


In the Volyn and Poliske directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly. There were no signs of the formation of offensive groups.


In the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi directions, the enemy carried out airstrikes in the regions of Galaganivka and Leonivka of the Chernihiv region and Iskriskiv region and Volfyny of the Sumy region. He carried out mortar and artillery shelling of more than 20 settlements, in particular, Ivashki, Guryev Kozachok, Udy, Strelecha, Zelene, Okhrimivka of the Kharkiv region.


In the Kupyansk direction, the enemy carried out an air strike in the Druzhelyubivka area of the Kharkiv region. Kolodyazne, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Sinkivka, Kislivka of the Kharkiv region were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar attacks.


In the Lyman direction, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive actions in the Serebryansk Forestry and Bilogorivka areas of the Luhansk Region. He carried out an airstrike near Hryhorivka, Donetsk region. The settlements of Nevske, Bilogorivka of Luhansk region and Torske, Verkhnyokamianske, Spirne of Donetsk region were hit by artillery fire.


In the Bakhmut direction, more than 15 settlements were hit by enemy artillery shelling, including Minkivka, Bogdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Predtechine, and Bila Gora of the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy launched an air strike in the Avdiivka area. More than 10 settlements, including Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, and Karlivka in the Donetsk region, were hit by artillery fire.


In the Mariinka direction, the defense forces continue to hold back the advance of Russian troops in the area of the city of Marinka. The enemy shelled more than 10 settlements, among them Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Novomykhailivka, Pobyeda, Georgiivka of the Donetsk region.


In the Shakhtarsky direction, the enemy shelled the settlements of Odradne, Blagodatne, Makarivka, Zelene Pole and Novodarivka of the Donetsk region.


In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the enemy is concentrating its main efforts on preventing the further advance of our troops. More than 25 settlements were hit by artillery fire, including Chervone, Gulyaipole, Charivne, Novoandriivka and Stepove in the Zaporizhia region and Zolota Balka, Mykhailivka, Kozatske, Tyaginka, Ivanivka and Sadove in the Kherson region. At the same time, the Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to conduct an offensive operation in the Melitopol and Berdyansk directions, are entrenched at the reached boundaries, inflict fire damage with artillery on identified enemy targets, and carry out counter-battery countermeasures.


Forced passporting of Ukrainian citizens continues in the temporarily occupied territories. Thus, in order to increase the moral pressure on the residents of temporarily occupied Horlivka, Donetsk region, and to force them to obtain citizenship of the Russian Federation, the occupiers sent orders to local enterprises of all forms of ownership to provide the so-called “Ministry of State Security of the DNR” with lists of employees who did not receive a Russian passport. The deadline for implementation of the order is January 1, 2024. At the same time, the occupation administration of the settlement of Blagovishchenka, Zaporizhzhia region, is conducting measures to encourage local residents to obtain Russian citizenship. In particular, it offers pensioners a cash reward of 50,000 Russian rubles.
Over the past day, the aviation of the defense forces has struck 3 areas where the enemy’s personnel, weapons and military equipment are concentrated.


During the day, units of missile forces and artillery hit 8 artillery pieces in firing positions, 2 radio electronic warfare stations, an ammunition warehouse, and also a warehouse of fuel and lubricants of the enemy.
