NSC news & analysis center briefing at 12:30 May 28, 2015: highlights

News & Analysis Center of the National Security Council of Ukraine presents the latest updates from the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine on May 28, 2015 at its daily briefing.

(1) Over the last 24 hours Ukrainian Army has no loss and no injuries in the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine. Enemy`s activity has been reduced in about two times;

(2) Mariupil direction: Ukrainian soldiers got under fire two times near the villages of Mokolayivka and Shyrokine, committed by Pro-Russian militants. They used 122 mm mine-throwers and gunneries against Ukraine defenders;

(3) Donetsk direction: The situation near the Airport got much better – heavy artillery wasn’t in use. Southern direction (Maryinka district) and Northern direction (the village of Lozove) of Donetsk were shelled with the fire-arms;

(4) Luhansk direction: the Enemy’s fire activity was along the huge part of front line – from the city of Popasnaya to the city of Schastya;

(5) Particularly, close to the village of Krymske, the enemy used BMP and the anri-aircraft guns ZSU-23-2 to destroy the Ukrainian positions. In the suburbs of Popasnaya, the Enemy used 122 mm guns. One woman among civilian was killed. The Enemy destroyed Luhansk Heat Electric Station (HES). Due to this, HES partly had to stop its work. As is became known, currently HES operates in normal condition;

(6) Over the last 24 hours 3 enemy’s UAV’s was spotted over the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine;

(7) The Ukrainian Intelligence informing, that huge part of Russian mercenaries, who fight in eastern Ukraine against Ukrainian army, plan to stay there permanently. They look for dwell or try to occupy the houses and flats left by flee locals;

(8) Pro-Russian militants try to undermine the situation in the neighboring regions to the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine. Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) attempt to warn such actions; SBU succeded in preventing bridge explosion in Pavlohrad (Dnipropetrovsk oblast). Two men were detained while putting explosive under the bridge. These criminals planned more sabotages and terroristic acts over Ukraine;

(9) Also, in Dniprodzerginsk (Dnipropetrovska Oblast) secret agents detained a local who participated in anti-Ukrainian propaganda campaign in the web. He urged people to support so-called DPR and LPR and provoked them for riots. At the same time, agents uncovered a woman, who was the enemy’s informer;

(10) Yesterday Ukrainian group of civil-military cooperation came to the village of Orlivka (Donetsk Oblast), which is 10 km away from the front-line. They brought humanitarian aid for locals – food sets for 250 person. This aid was purchased by the local authorities and German Society for International Cooperation. yesterday More than 30 tons of food purchased for Donbas inhabitants by the Program of cooperation with Germany.
