Solar power plant in the Chernobyl exclusion zone is completed

The construction of solar power plant with a capacity of 1 megawatt is completed in the Chernobyl exclusion zone.


Works are completing on the construction of a solar power plant in the exclusion zone of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, press service of the State Specialized Enterprise “Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant” reports.
In May 2017, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman announced the information on the preparation to solar power plant construction in the exclusion zone of the Chernobyl power plant. He stressed that the specialists selected a solid with the territory of 1172 hectares in the exclusion zone and received 60 applications from foreign and local investors.
To date, the construction of a solar power station with a capacity of 1 MW * Peak is being completed at the site of the Chernobyl NPP. Work is carried out by the company “Solar Chernobyl”, which began an active phase of construction and installation works at the site of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in October 2017.
During construction 3762 solar modules will be installed. To place technological equipment of the power plant, fastening systems and foundations are used, which were specially designed to meet site and radiological safety requirements.
The project aim is to build renewable energy in the territories affected by the Chernobyl disaster.
