Ukraine may start issuing “electronic residence” to foreign businesses

The Ministry of Digital Transformation is planning to implement an Electronic Residency project allowing foreign businessmen to do business in Ukraine without coming to our country.

This was announced by Vice Prime Minister – Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov on Friday.

“We already have a working group, a presidential decree has been written, a draft law has been prepared, we are actively working on this project,” Fedorov said.

“We want it to be convenient to open a company in Ukraine, convenient to open a bank account in Ukraine without coming to our country, to get an ID card at the embassy, ​​and to be able to do business here,” he said.

Previously, he said that entire broadband Internet – connectedness in Ukraine, necessary for the work of “a state in a smartphone”, would be implemented within eighteen to twenty-four months.

He also announced a launch of the provision of state services using the Smart-ID citizen identification technology in December 2019 or January 2020.
