Ukraine learned to earn money on tourism: the state budget received a record inflow

Since the beginning of 2019, almos127 million hryvnias have been added to the budget from tourism fees, an increase of more than 36 million hryvnias over the whole of 2018.




Over a nine-month period this year, tourism fee revenues to the state budget of Ukraine exceeded the level of the entire previous year. Since the beginning of the year, almost 127 million hryvnias have been added to the budget from tourism fees.

Kyiv has a particularly good performance. From January to September 2019, Kyiv received more than 43 million UAH from tourism fees. This is about 10 million UAH more than over the whole of 2018. The growth in Lviv region amounted to 35%, an increase of more than 4.5 million hryvnias over a nine-month period last year.

Among the top ten regions are Odesa region - 12.9 million UAH compared to 11.5 million in 2018, Kherson region - 6.1 million UAH compared to 3.6 million UAH in 2018, Kyiv region - 5.9 million UAH compared to 2.3 million UAH in 2018, Dnipropetrovsk region - 5.5 million UAH (2.5 million UAH in 2018), Transcarpathia - 5.4 million UAH (3.8 million UAH in 2018), Kharkiv region - 4.8 million UAH, Zaporizhzhya region - 4.7 million UAH, Ivano-Frankivsk region - 4.3 million UAH.

Kyiv city budget received 25 million UAH from tourism fee in 2018. At the beginning of September 2019, the tourism tax revenues reached almost 50 million UAH.

Besides, MPs propose that internally displaced persons (IDPs) should be exempted from paying tourism tax.
