Ukraine is not a prospect but a problem for the USA

Ukraine is not a prospect but a problem for the USA

I have read the revelations of D. Trump and his trusted associate J. Kellogg regarding the end of the war.

The President of the United States claims that peace negotiations between the U.S. and Russia are already underway. However, he says nothing about their progress. The pseudo-empire denies the fact of negotiations altogether.

This is not just the usual fog of war. It is evidence that consultations (not negotiations!) regarding the start of talks have not yet achieved their goal. Accordingly, Trump has nothing to report to the world about any peacekeeping achievements. Consultations continue – just like the offensive of the pseudo-empire in Ukraine.

But what struck me unpleasantly was the tone in which the peace process was discussed. Especially when compared to how U.S. officials speak about Israel.

Israel is a partner, an ally, and a conduit of U.S. interests in the Middle East. The United States is ready to support it as much as necessary. Trump is even implementing the deportation of all those in the U.S. who support Hamas and Palestine – in other words, freedom of speech is disregarded if it interferes with strategic interests.

When it comes to peace in Ukraine, the wording suggests that the U.S. is preparing coercive measures to end the war. Moreover, it is explicitly emphasized that the pressure will be applied to both Russia and Ukraine. Not pressure on the aggressor to achieve a just peace, but on both sides of the war!

Ukraine is not perceived as a U.S. ally. It is not a subject of strategic interest but merely a source of endless expenditures and problems.

This situation is a de facto failure of Ukrainian diplomacy under President V. Zelenskyy. However, many government officials and NGO grant recipients have also contributed to this failure.

I am not saying that the situation is irreparable. But too much time has been lost. And, oddly enough, it is not Bankova but the Kremlin – through its foolish intransigence and baseless ambitions – that is more capable of changing the U.S. attitude toward Ukraine.
