Only the President of the United States can end Russia’s war against Ukraine. Europe is incapable of doing so

Only the U.S. President Donald Trump can end Russia’s war against Ukraine – and he is firmly determined to do so.

As reported by RBC-Ukraine, Polish President Andrzej Duda made this statement in an interview with LRT.

“I have always said that, in my personal opinion, only the President of the United States can end this war. Europe has tried — the largest states attempted to persuade Putin to return to international law, but it was in vain. He essentially mocked the Europeans, the ‘Normandy Format,’ and the Minsk agreements. The history since Russia’s attack in 2014, these nine years, has shown that Europe is incapable of dealing with this,” Duda said.

He noted that the United States is the world’s largest economic, military, and nuclear power.

“And as Donald Trump once said in response to various threats from Vladimir Putin — they both have nuclear buttons, but only Donald Trump can be sure that his button actually works,” the Polish president added.

Duda emphasized that Trump has a firm intention to end the war in Ukraine.

“After very quiet diplomatic efforts, when he — as some accuse him — gently tried to persuade Russia and Putin to reach some kind of peace agreement with Ukraine, we must now hope that Trump will use other tools. I am thinking primarily of various economic pressure measures to force Russia to stop its assault on Ukraine. So far, this has not succeeded, and Putin’s cynicism remains evident,” he added.

U.S. sanctions against Russia

Recently, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that the United States and Europe will decisively tighten sanctions against Russia if the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin does not begin peace negotiations with Ukraine “in a spirit of goodwill.”

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump also declared that he would impose sanctions on Russia if negotiations with Ukraine do not succeed. He believes these sanctions would have a devastating impact on Russia.

At the same time, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the U.S. has not yet imposed sanctions, as doing so might cause Russia to refuse to engage in peace talks.
