Starting August 25, Ukraine resumes electricity exports to neighboring countries - Ukrenergo

As explained in the company, due to the drop in heat, lower consumption and the withdrawal of another nuclear power unit from scheduled maintenance, a power surplus is possible in the Ukrainian grid.

There are two ways to overcome the surplus:

🔹 limiting the generation of Ukrainian solar power plants;

🔹 resumption of electricity exports during daytime hours.

“Given the economic inexpediency of limiting the operation of solar power plants, starting from August 25, Ukraine plans to resume electricity exports to neighboring countries. Tomorrow we will hold an auction for access to interstate crossings to Romania, Hungary and Moldova. This will allow avoiding restrictions for Ukrainian electricity producers,” Ukrenergo said.

Exports will take place exclusively in times of surplus. During periods of maximum consumption, when there is not enough capacity in the power system, exports will not be carried out.
