Ukraine counter offensive: official digest. July 4, 2023
The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to conduct Ukraine counter offensive operation, with the following success.
The most alarming situation for the russian forces is in the Orikhiv sector:
On June 28-29, the Russian counterattack, which was intended to push the Armed Forces of Ukraine back to the minefields north of the settlement of Robotyne, failed.
This had serious consequences – for the russian Armed Forces. Early in the morning of June 30, the Armed Force of Ukraine entered Novopokrovka and then attacked it at close range, making the russian garrison flee in panic.
The 58th CAA responded by moving special forces there (probably the 45th brigade), which saved the situation so much that they still hold the southern side of the village.
However, later (on July 1) the AFU moved into the space between BARS-3 (defended Robotyne) and the 70th motorized rifle regiment (defended the area between Robotyne and Verbove).
russian positions fell apart again, allowing the Armed Forces of Ukraine to drive a wedge towards Novoprokopivka (defended by the 1430th motorized rifle regiment).
It is not reported how far the offensive moved, but it is clear that the actions of Ukrainian forces continued for at least 48 hours without a break, exhausting the russians as a result.
There is no doubt that once the russians moved part of the 22nd special forces brigade and several tanks to block this move, the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked the main position of the 22nd brigade, this time on the russians’ eastern flank, toward Verbove (defended by the 417th reconnaissance battalion).
In the Bakhmut direction, the situation escalated again. The duel continues to seize the initiative. Today, the russian forces tried to advance in this direction, but without success. And Ukrainian defense forces had some success.
However, the situation is changing very rapidly. Control over the same positions can be lost and regained twice a day. The enemy actively reacts to all Ukrainian forces’s actions and creates three lines of defense in threatening directions. On the southern flank in the Klishchiivka area, Ukrainian troops are fighting, but advancing. Instead, fighting continues on the northern flank.
Bakhmut itself is also restless. The enemy in the city is constantly firing, trying to disrupt Ukrainian forces logistics and inflict maximum losses on us.
At the same time, Ukraine defenders do not allow the enemy to move around the city and hit enemy positions with fire.
Main results as of today: we are advancing, the enemy is not.
We have an advance in the southern flank around Bakhmut. Fighting continues in the north.
In Bakhmut itself, it is difficult for the enemy to move and it is impossible to get out.
At the same time, the enemy is advancing in the Lyman, Avidiivka, and Mariinka directions. It is very hot there, but the enemy cannot advance.
We have progress in the south. Details later.
In all directions, Ukrainian defense forces are intensively destroying the offensive capabilities of the enemy army. The destroyed control points, personnel, equipment and weapons are all that was planned to be used against us, but it will no longer work.
The late evening the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Hanna Maliar published a statement that “the Ukrainian Armed Forces are advancing at the front, but Ukrainians are not informed about it”.
“It is very difficult to explain to the public why we have been silent for three days. We are moving, but we won’t tell you,” she said.
Maliar added that Ukraine managed to avoid information censorship during martial law.
“At the same time, we managed to accustom the society to a certain information culture in a year. And even if there are isolated cases of information leakage, in general, the overall culture has leaped far over this year, and we have a lot to learn from other countries. We managed to make the Ministry of Defense an information leader,” she emphasized.
It is also know, that during the day russian forces position were hit by the Armed Forces of Ukraine fire:
