The night attack on Ukraine: russia once again launched a massive air strike

On the night of May 19, 2023, the russian invaders attacked Ukraine from the north and south-east directions with Shahed-136/131 attack drones and Kalibr cruise missiles from ships in the Black Sea.

The enemy launched 22 russian shahed drones and 6 Kalibr cruise missiles toward Ukraine in total.

During this night attack, 3 cruise missiles and 16 shahed attack drones were destroyed by the Forces and means of air defense of the “Center”, “West” and “South” air commands of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast

In particular, at night, the russian forces attacked Kyiv for the tenth time in a month.

The air raid alert in the capital was connected with the use of the russian shahed drones launched by the russian occupiers. It was an attack in several waves, with short intervals between attacks.

“With this tactic, the Kremlin’s evil is trying to exhaust our air defense, as well as psychologically influence the civilian population,” said Serhiy Popko, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.

All air targets over the Kyiv Oblast were destroyed by the forces and means of Ukrainian Air defense. No strikes on Kyiv were allowed this time.

Lviv Oblast

Between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. in the morning on May 19, 2023 Lviv Oblast was attacked by the russian Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea area. This was announced by the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration Maksym Kozatskyi. The forces and means of Ukrainian air defense system worked well to intercept the enemy missiles over the oblast. There are no casualties.

Around 4 a.m. in the morning, the enemy also tried to attack object of critical infrastructure in Lviv. They launched the russian shahed drones over the city. There are no casualties, reports say.

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

During the last night, several explosions rang out in Kryvyi Rih.
The russian forces hit a private industrial enterprise. A 64-year-old woman was injured. She was hospitalized in serious condition. A 45-year-old man received minor injuries.

Mykolaiv Oblast

3 russian Kalibr cruise missiles were shot down by air defense forces over the Mykolaiv Oblast during the last night.

The enemy also fired artillery at the water area of Ochakivsk community.

An agro-enterprise of the Stepiv community came under the russian fire around 02:00 a.m. Equipment and the building of the enterprise, an educational institution and private houses were damaged. There are no casualties among civilians

Kherson Oblast

The russian forces hit the residential district of the populated areas of the Oblast overnight: 2 healthcare institutions and a cultural institution in Kherson. There is report about 2 injured civilians.
