The State Bureau of Investigation violates the imperative norms of the Criminal Procedure Code by refusing to open criminal proceedings against general Sodol.

Oleg Symoroz on the air of Radio Liberty talked about the case against General Sodol. I explained in whose interests the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) is openly violating the imperative norms of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine by refusing to open criminal proceedings. I discussed some legal nuances and the tricks judges are now devising to avoid initiating cases against government patrons.

It is important to note that the SBI and judges cannot independently violate the law so blatantly; this works differently, and it is crucial to talk about this! An influential police officer in the President’s Office, Deputy Head of the President’s Office Oleh Tatarov, is responsible for exerting influence on them. Tatarov impacts the law enforcement system in Ukraine and regularly interferes with investigations. In this case, the gross violations of procedural law by the investigating body at the stage of filing the complaint only confirm this.

It is important to understand that Sodol is an insider for the authorities. As the Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and as the commander of one of the key operational-tactical groups of troops, he coordinated his actions with the highest military-political leadership of the country. Therefore, a real investigation into Sodol’s criminal actions could reveal new interesting names with much more influential positions. That’s why the Ukrainian authorities opted for their classic strategy—mutual cover-up instead of the rule of law.

I support the position of the Chief of Staff of the Azov Special Purpose Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel Bohdan Krotevych. His statement should be properly registered in the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations! The facts of Sodol’s illegal actions outlined must be properly investigated! All those military personnel who wish to testify (and there are many) should be given the official procedural status of witnesses, and in some cases, victims! This alcoholic butcher must be imprisoned for the murder of our soldiers!
